What's In My Makeup Trunk?

Hey everyone!  So I thought I'd show you all what's in my makeup trunk.  I'm doing a giant makeup order sometime next month so I'll do an updated post as well as a 'what's in my makeup trunk' / e.l.f. makeup haul video to go along with it.

So this is my makeup trunk. I bought it a couple summers ago. If I remember correctly, I bought it at Wal Mart for about $20.  Not a bad price at all.  For me, it's a tad on a small side right now, but once I order new makeup and re-organize it, it should be a lot better.  I currently have a lot of large pallets in the bottom compartment and in the sides which take up a lot of space so I'm hoping to give those to my sisters and replace them with smaller pallets.  Maybe single-color shadows and blush and bronzers that don't take up as much space.

For the most part I only buy Maybelline New York and e.l.f. products.  Those are my top two makeup lines that I go through.  I don't like to spend a lot of money on makeup so e.l.f. is a great place to go.  They have some great products and most of it is under $5.  It's great.  Then with Maybelline New York, I buy my eyeliners and foundations.  Eyeliner and foundations are the only two things I'll spend "a lot" of money on.  It's hard to find a good foundation that works in every way possible as well as an eyeliner that doesn't fade or smudge or isn't waterproof.

Another new obsession of mine is Instagram!

I'm not a fan of the iphone and other apple products so I was beyond excited when Android came out with the app as well.  I use it multiple times a day now.  It's amazing.  I highly recommend it to people!

Cute Nail Polish!

I'm officially obsessed with neon and coral colored things.

A friend of mine bought me this nail polish for my birthday and I'm absolutely in love with it.   It's by Sally Hansen and it's number 405 called Coral Reef.  It was pretty thick when I got it, but I was able to thin it out and now I love it.  It's a great summertime color!

Blog Update!

Since we're entering summertime, I thought my blog, Twitter, Tumblr and Youtube all needed an update.  So I changed around the backgrounds and the colors and everything.  I'm officially obsessed with the coral and gray color combination haha I hope everyone likes it and is enjoying this beautiful day!

So I found this outfit on Pintrest and I'm completely in love with it.  I now love the coral/gray color combination. It looks awesome together and it's super summery.  Coral is the new summertime color.  I'm loving it!

Money Can't Buy Happiness

Happiness Tip #4

I've learned this one from experience. Going along with happiness tip #2, I sometimes buy things I don't actually need just to impress the people around me. I also thought that buying myself nice things would make me happier because I'd have the best. I always had to have a smart phone because it was better than normal phones. I always had to have the nicest clothes and get my nails done as often as possible and buy Starbucks whenever I could, but none of it actually made me happy. The happiness I had after buying those things only lasted a short amount of time. Growing up, I always wanted a career that would give me the most money possible. I wanted to marry someone who also had a career that paid a lot of money. I wanted to be able to have anything and everything I wanted without having to worry about the price tag. 

 When I went to bed last night, Jeff was still at his computer playing League with some friends. For a good five minutes, all I did was lay in bed, staring at him. Now this sounds creepy, but I had a lot of thoughts running through my mind at the time. I complain a lot about my life and lack of money right now. But in those short, five minutes I realized I couldn't be happier. If I had to choose between being with him and having a million dollars, I'd always choose him. Money can't buy me an amazing boyfriend or love or a great relationship.  It can't buy you the things you really need in life.

Happiness Tip #3

Surround yourself with people who are positive influences. Hanging out with people who don't make very good life decisions can cause you to also make some not so intelligent decisions. You want positive people in your life. Don't surround yourself with people who make bad decisions or people who aren't trustworthy or anything like that. Think about the type of person you want to be and surround yourself with people just like that. You should surround yourself with people who are going somewhere in life. People with future goals. People who can help you grow as an individual and will be there to love and support you through everything. You want positivity not negativity.

Happiness Tip #2

The above  statement is true for most people. You stop trying to be good enough for everyone. The only person you need to be good enough for is yourself. It's impossible to try to meet everyone's standards. Also, why try to be good enough and impress people you don't like? I'm guilty of doing this on a daily basis. If I don't like you, then chances are, I'll work even harder to impress you.  I don't understand it.  Why do people work so hard to try to impress people that don't matter to them?  Why do I give a fuck what you think about me?  Why do I waste so much money to buy clothing and accessories by designer brands when I can buy the same thing at a department store for a lower price?  Why do people strive to be like others, rather than being themselves?  People would be so much happier if they only worked to meet their own standards.  No one's opinion of you matters except yours.

Happiness Tips?

So I've always had a problem with being a perfectionist. Everything in my life always has to be perfect and it's keeping me from being truly happy. The smallest things can ruin my entire day. It's ridiculous. I've done a lot of thinking and have come up with some ways to stay happy. I'll post them every day until I run out of ideas.

Happiness Tip #1

Stop comparing yourself to others. 

This one is a difficult one for me. I find myself on Facebook a lot, looking through other people's profiles and wondering what I'm doing wrong with my life and why they're so much happier than me. It makes me feel like I haven't done enough with my life. I see tons of people I went to high school with, getting married and having children and moving into apartments and all that and it makes me jealous sometimes that I'm not doing the same. I feel like I'm behind in life. 

I've come to the conclusion that Facebook makes everyone's lives look better than they really are. I'm only 20 years old. I'm going to school full time. I don't have the time for a child right now, nor do I have the money to get married. I'm in a perfectly good relationship with someone I'm completely in love with. He's not going anywhere, so why am I in such a hurry to get married? I have no fucking idea! Married or not, we're still together. Now that I think about it, I really don't see the difference at all. He's still mine. Why does it matter if we're married right now or not?

Going along with checking out other people's Facebook profiles, I also see a lot of people with really nice bodies. Even on Tumblr. Tumblr is a horrible place to go sometimes. Everyone on there has a flat stomach and beautiful long hair and golden skin and all that. So then it gets me comparing their bodies to my own and making me feel bad about myself when in reality, there's nothing wrong with my body at all!

So in conclusion, no one should compare themselves to someone else. There's nothing wrong with who you are or where you are in life. Everyone is different.

You should sit down sometime and make a list of everything that's good in your life.

• I'm in a great relationship with my boyfriend 
• I'm in school full time and I get good grades 
• I'm healthy 
• I'm pretty 
• I started a photography business at the age of 19 
• I have a great family 
• etc.

Making a list of everything good in your life, rather than comparing your life to other people's lives can help you to be a happier person.

Summertime

I was on Tumblr today and came across this photo and it made me miss summer terribly.  After the weather we've been having, I'd say I'm ready for summertime.  I'm ready for the sunshine, the warm weather, the beach, the parites and the late summer nights.  I'm hoping to make this summer one of the best summers of my life.  Summer 2012 can't come soon enough!

Vacation Day 1

I've been waiting for this vacation for a few months now and I've worked my ass off so I could take a week off from life and school to go and I'm sitting on the bus feeling sick to my stomach, missing my boyfriend like crazy.  Not the best start to my vacation.  Hopefully it'll get better tomorrow.

Took the bus from Portland to Boston.  Now I'm on a bus to Springfield where I'm meeting up with my dad and sisters.  Then I'm off to my grandparent's house in up-state New York for the night.  Should be there around 10pm.  Leaving for Myrtle Beach sometime tomorrow morning.  Hopefully we're driving all the way tomorrow, but I'm not sure what the plan is yet.  I think it depends on the weather.

At this point I'm just ready to get to my grandparent's house.  I'm dying to skype with the boyfriend....and play League of Legends =P He's got me addicted. haha

Weekend!

Classes are officially over for the week and it's officially the weekend.  This week went by so fast.  I feel like it should be Wednesday or something haha Going to do my best not to do much this weekend.  Maybe play some League and spend time with the boyfriend.  Off to the bus station this afternoon to buy a bus ticket to Springfield for next Friday.  One more week and then I'm off to Myrtle Beach!  So very excited for it.

So much to do this weekend!

I have about two weeks worth of assignments to get done this weekend so I can go on vacation next weekend!  It's going to be a very long, productive weekend.  I hope everyone is having a good day!

Amazing Night

I have the most amazing boyfriend in the world.  He surprised me yesterday by buying me chocolates and a rose for Valentine's Day and then he surprises me tonight by taking me to the semi-formal dance.  Definitely needed the me and him time.  It was good to get away from work and school and our computers and phones.  I'd say it's been a very good week.  =]

Valentine's Day!

I had a very good Valentine's Day =] My boyfriend surprised me with chocolate and a rose (wasn't really expecting it) and then tomorrow night he's taking me to the dance.  So excited to be able to go out and spend time with him.  It'll be fun.  Working on homework now.  Have a lot to do before Myrtle Beach next weekend.  Watching P.S. I Love You with Jeff later tonight before we go to bed.

Amazing

It amazes me how people don't pay attention whatsoever. I'm sick of spending the first 20 min of every class going over the same directions over and over again. Why can't people just pay attention the first time? I dont get it. We've gone over the assignments and due dates at least three times now. And being absent isn't an excuse to me. Every professor has an email! Ugh! People drive me insane.

Relaxing Weekend

I actually did absolutely nothing productive all weekend.  I'm pretty proud of myself.  I had a list of things I wanted to get done and instead of doing it all, I sat in bed, playing league, sleeping, eating junk food and hanging out with the boyfriend.  I'd say it was a very good weekend =] Now today has to be dedicated to homework.  And maybe some more league later tonight haha But my top priority is homework today!  I'm determined to get a lot of work done!
